OBJECTIVES
Our project have the following objectives:
- Raising awareness: The primary objective is to increase understanding and awareness about the causes, consequences, and prevention strategies for aggression and bullying among students, teachers, parents, and other stakeholders within the university community.
- Prevention and intervention: To develop and implement evidence-based programme and interventions that aim to reduce aggressive behaviors and bullying incidents at universities. These interventions will include social-emotional learning activIties, restorative practices, or peer mediation programs.
- Training and professional development: We will provide training and support for educators, university staff, and administrators to enhance their skills in identifying, preventing, and responding to aggression and bullying. This will include dedicated Handbook with guidelines, strategies and resources.
- Collaboration and partnerships: We aim to continue our established partnerships with local organizations, agencies, and communities to leverage resources and expertise in addressing aggression and bullying. These partnerships involves parent groups, mental health organizations, law enforcement and other relevant stakeholders.
- Monitoring and evaluation: We will prepare an online survey, through which we will regularly assess the effectiveness of implemented prevention and intervention strategies, making adjustments as needed to ensure continuous improvement in reducing aggression and bullying in universities.
- Advocacy and policy change: We aim to advocate on changes in universities’ policies, procedures and practices that promote a safe and inclusive environment, and address the root causes of aggression and bullying with special attention to students with disabilities.
- Promoting positive relationships: We aim also to foster a culture of respect, empathy, and inclusivity within the university community by promoting positive relationships between students, teachers, and staff. This will involve activities that encourage teamwork, collaboration, and mutual understanding. immediate action; good communication; informal discussions; mediation; giving a talk to a tutor group; trying not to use student nicknames; moving students to other teaching groups; choosing groups for students to work in; including students in groups which are excluding them; use of subtlety; putting complaints into writing; making students aware of their actions; and making students aware of the boundaries of acceptable behaviour.
These objectives are tailored to meet the specific needs and context of the targeted university community, ensuring that the proposed project addresses the most pressing issues related to aggression and bullying effectively.
